West Charlotte's ring problem: Solved.

Several parents from the state championship-winning girls basketball team were concerned that not all the team's players would be able to get state championship rings due to costs in tough economic times.

The Lions beat two national ranked teams on back-to-back nights in the playoffs en route to the school's first girls basketball state championship. West Charlotte also beat St. Michael (N.Y.) during a Christmas tournament when St. Michael was ranked No. 1 in the nation.

The Observer ran a story last month about the rings and several anonymous volunteers have stepped up to help the Lions, coach Reggie Mobley said. The Observer contacted two of the donors, who said they wished to be anonymous.

"We had some nice contributions from folks," Mobley said. "And everybody's going to get their rings. They should be in by the end of the school year."
