Patton's Fine homers twice in same inning

Chris Fine slammed two home runs in the third inning, including a grand slam, in Morganton Patton's 12-5 victory against Mount Pleasant in Game 1 of the N.C. 2A baseball semifinals.

Game 2 in the best-of-3 series will be at 7 p.m. today at Mount Pleasant.

Patton (26-6), a second-year school, scored 10 runs in the third inning to erase a 4-1 deficit.

Aaron Attaway (home run), Matt Baker (2-for-4), Dykota Spiess (2-for-3, triple, two RBIs), Trevor Tallent (2-for-3, home run, two RBIs), Eli Lawson and Nick Newton (two hits apiece) and Fine (five RBIs) led Patton's 14-hit attack.

Ethan Ledbetter and Garrett Furr hit home runs for Mount Pleasant (24-7), Grayson Atwood was 2-for-3.
