Lake Norman's baseball team survived a big rally from Waynesville Tuscola to win 8-7 and advance to the 7-year-0ld school's first baseball final.
Tuscola scored three runs in the top of the seventh and final inning to tie the game at 7. Nick Lamoscolo's two-out single scored Donnie Burt with the game and series winning run.
Lake Norman (26-2) will play Northern Nash (18-8) or Eastern Wayne (24-4) in next week's 3A best-of-3 state final series.
In 2A, Morganton Patton beat Mount Pleasant 3-2 to advance to the 2A finals. Patton (27-7) will play either Fairmont (19-7) or McMichael (23-5) in next week's N.C. 2A best of 3 championship series.
