Country Day wins boys lacrosse title

Charlotte Country Day’s boys lacrosse team won the N.C. Independent Schools championship 9-8 in overtime over Providence Day Saturday at Charlotte Latin.
The Bucs (19-5) won the title after Nick DeLuca scored on a pass from Derek Passenant. It was Country Day’s seventh championship and the Bucs’ third in four years. DeLuca finished with four goals. Dave D’Alessandro had two for Country Day.
Providence Day (17-6), which lost to Country Day in three of four meetings this season, got three goals from Coleman Russell and two from Kevin Sherrill.
