Cross country seniors Jonathan Cooley (Lake Norman High) and Jarrett Jackson (Hopewell) signed with Catawba.
Cooley was a two-time team most valuable runner. He was all-conference last season, twice all-North Piedmont 3A and set the team record in the 5-kilometer race (16 minutes, 57 seconds).
Jackson was named Hopewell’s most improved runner last season. He helped the Titans to the ME-CA 7 4A title as a junior.
East Rowan girls’ tennis player Emilee Smith, the Mustangs’ No. 1 singles player the past two seasons, also signed with Catawba.
Smith was all-North Piedmont 3A twice, and all-Rowan County three times.

Another athlete to watch is first baseman/pitcher Steven Pfeiffer from North Mecklenburg who also signed with Catawba. Could provide a nice surprise for Catawba baseball next year.
