Thoughts on the Hopewell-Mount Tabor state semifinal game

Saturday's N.C. 4A regional boys championship between 28-0 Hopewell and 29-1 Mount Tabor could be special. Tabor has three guards who have signed Division I scholarships. Hopewell has two, but I think the game might come down to the other guys -- and to Hopewell's 6-6 junior center DeMon Brooks.

Tabor doesn't have an inside presence and even with the flu weakening him, Myers Park's 6-8 senior center Odell Turner got 15 points and 13 rebounds against Tabor in Thursday's regional semifinals.

But.....Hopewell will also have to think about this. The Titans played six close games with Vance and Myers Park, all nail-biters. Hopewell won all six, but in these playoffs Tabor beat Vance by 18 and Myers Park by 22.

Neither team has been to the state final before, but who is going to taste history Saturday?

mt tabor's two inside players scored 23 pts and 19 rebounds. so much for 'no inside presence.' ask vance or page and their 6'9" post player[he scored 9 pts]. hopewell goes down tomorrow by double digets.
