Salisbury wins N.C. 2A girls title

Salisbury rallied from a six-point halftime deficit with a dominant second half performance in a 56-41 win over Graham in the N.C. 2A girls state championship game.

Salisbury (29-3) held Graham (28-4) to 28 percent shooting in the second half and allowed Graham 16 second half points.

Down 28-22 at halftime, Salisbury scored 34 halftime points led by championship MVP Shanequa Phifer, who had 15 points.

Salisbury star Shi-Heria Shipp shot 1-for-5 and scored only five points, but dominated the ball late as the Hornets worked the clock against Graham, which got 17 points from Kiandria Allen and 13 from 5-2 star Beth Miller.

It was Salisbury's second state title since 2004.
