North Meck's Padgett new football coach at Concord


Glen Padgett is the new football coach at Concord High. He replaces longtime coach E.Z. Smith who recently retired.


Padgett (pictured above in a 2007 staff file photo) is the 19th coach at the school. He comes from North Mecklenburg, where he led the Vikings to seven straight playoff appearances.

Nicole, I learned more about responsibility, character, and hard work on the field than I ever did in a classroom. I guess it depends on priorities though. Personally I would prefer idiots with character than slightly smarter idiots with slightly less character. Maybe that's just me.

maybe or maybe not a questionable move considering the options but 7 yrs is usually an overstay anywhere espec cms but obv a setup pick by the retiring hc to try to rebuild a stumbling program in a new weak suburban all county conf kann will dominate in a weaker 3a.

He knows his stuff but moving down to 3A taking over a bottomed out program in a cupcake league that one school will dominate wont be easy. He will return to the bigger 4A fish fry in a few short years since nobody moves from the pros to the minors and stays happy.

He and his assistants def been a positive the past 7 yrs as the bigger winners in the schools history plus played in one of the best looking bigger updated facilities in NC with optimum rabid spirited student fans.
