Mooresville football coach resigns

Mooresville High’s Barclay Marsh resigned after six seasons as football coach, but will remain as athletics director and physical education teacher.

Marsh’s record was 40-34, including 9-4 last season. The Blue Devils beat Indian Trail Sun Valley 21-6 in the N.C. 3A playoff opener, and lost to Kings Mountain 41-34 in overtime in the second round.

“The changing nature of high school athletics makes it extremely difficult to serve in two demanding jobs and maintain the level of excellence to which I always strive,” Marsh said in a statement.

Mooresville was 7-2 in North Piedmont 3A games last season, and tied for second in the 10-team conference.
