Cannon's Eddie to play at NBA Developmental Camp

Concord Cannon basketball star Jarell Eddie, who has committed to Virginia Tech, has been invited to the 2009 NBA Player's Association (NBPA) TOP 100 Camp to be held at the University of Virginia, June 17-21.

Eddie is one of 85 juniors and 15 sophomores invited to the camp from across the country. Players will work with current and former NBA players. Current NBA players like Kobe Bryant, Kevin Durant and O.J. Mayo are past camp participants.

Eddie, a 6-7 junior, has scored more than 2,000 points in his varsity career and led the Cougars to a co-conference championship in the Charlotte Independent Schools Athletic Association (CISAA) this season, the first season Cannon competed in the conference.

Eddie and sophomore teammate Keith Belfield (6’6” guard) are among 80 North Carolina basketball players hand-picked to participate in Dave Telep's Carolina Challenge, to be held March 28 at Cary Academy.

I have had the pleasure to meet Jarell and spend some time with him. He is a top-notch athlete on the court as well as off the court. He is a role model for young athletes and I can't wait to watch him reach the next level.
