Shelby girls coach wins 300th career game

Shelby High girls basketball coach Cal Pass won his 300th career game against Lawndale Burns last month.

Pass now has 309 wins. His girls team will play either Burns or Kings Mountain Tuesday in a Southwestern 2A/3A conference semifinal at Shelby. Tip-off is 7:30 p.m.

The Golden Lions (22-1) finished 10-0 in league regular season play, led by Tiera Sweezy, a 5-foot-8 senior guard who averages 16 points, seven rebounds, five steals and four assists per game.

Sweezey is the reigning league player of the year. Sweezy has more than 1,400 career points.
