Concord Cannon wins swimming title

Concord Cannon won the boys' and girls' swimming championships in its first season as a member of the Charlotte Independent Schools Athletic Association (CISAA).

The conference includes Charlotte Christian, Charlotte Country Day, Charlotte Latin and Providence Day.

The Cannon girls, which won a state title last year, scored 257 points in the meet at Mecklenburg County Aquatic Center, which was 31 ahead of runner-up Country Day.

Cannon's boys scored 235, and runner-up Charlotte Latin had 221. Cannon's top swimmer is senior Mack Montgomery, who has signed with Stanford.

The Cougars, coached by Megan Thompson and assistant Judy Campbell, will compete in the NCISAA championships in Cary, on Feb. 23.
