Cannon's Gross selected to WBCA All-Star Game

Concord Cannon senior and North Carolina recruit Krista Gross was selected as one of the nation’s top 20 girls’ players and will play in the Women’s Basketball Coaches Association High School All-America Game.

Currently sidelined with a hip injury, Gross is expected to play in the game April 4 at Washington University in St. Louis. She was the only North Carolina player picked for the game, which is part of the WBCA National Convention at the NCAA Women’s Final Four.

“Krista’s WBCA selection is outstanding and well-deserved,” said Doug Maynard, Cannon’s athletics director. “Her commitment and dedication to athletics and academics is a great example of what it means to be a student-athlete at the interscholastic level.”

Gross was the first girl in Cannon history to sign with a Division I basketball program. The 6-foot wing has nearly 4,000 career points and chose North Carolina over Connecticut, Florida and Stanford. Two of Krista’s future teammates at North Carolina - Waltia Rolle and Tierra Ruffin-Pratt – were picked for the game.
