Butler's girls No.25 in USA Today poll

Butler High's girls' basketball team moved into USA Today's national ranking, debuting at No. 25 this week.

The Bulldogs are the only Carolinas team ranked. USA Today ranks Butler No. 7 in the South region. Hopkins Lower Richland (S.C.) ranks No. 10 in the region.

In the boys' poll, Arden Christ School is No. 21. Former Harding star Lakeem Jackson is a fifth-year senior at Christ School, which will face No. 4 Oak Hill (Va.) Monday at 4:30 p.m. at the Greensboro Coliseum in a Martin Luther King Day tournament.

Christ School is ranked No. 6 in the South region, one spot ahead of Greensboro Dudley.

In ESPN's national girls' poll, Butler is No. 33, East Mecklenburg is No. 36 and West Charlotte is No. 41.

In ESPN's boys' poll, Christ School is No. 8 nationally and No. 2 in the Southeast region. Kinston is No. 14 in the region and Charlotte's United Faith Christian, featuring former South Mecklenburg star Ian Miller, is No. 20 in the region.
