Ex-Providence QB leads high-scoring N.C. Tech

Charlotte’s post high school graduate team, the N.C. Tech Tigers, is 3-0 and is averaging 72.3.

Former Providence quarterback Justin Siems is the team’s starter. He has thrown for more than 300 yards and five touchdowns, despite limited minutes because of lopsided games, coach Tim Newman said.

N.C. Tech will get its toughest test of the season Sunday, when it travels to Georgetown, Ky., to face the junior varsity team from Georgetown (Ky.) College. Georgetown’s varsity is ranked No. 14 in the NAIA national collegiate poll. Georgetown has won 14 Mid-South conference championships and won national titles in 1991, 2000 and 2001.

N.C. Tech has won all 30 games it has played in its three-year run under Newman, who is 106-5 in his coaching career.

I'm happy that these young men are getting a chance to play. I hope they find good college teams to join! http://www.prepnow.org

Keep up the good work Tim. I know you care about raising goal-oriented young men.

A VERY good source on his staff says that he won't have a team this year. But considering the way he has run 30 coaches off his staff and stolen money from so many families it doesn't surprise me. I hope he goes away and makes room for that other great program in Charlotte. You should check them out they are very professional and have the kids in mind.

I heard the same thing about this program. Are they truly that poorly run? His travel company hasn't been paid for the last two years and I will tell you that is a fact. I won't let Newman watch my dog much less have my child for a semester.

I heard that Fork Union, Hargrave, and all the major PG programs won't come near Newman and his 25 year old players. He just needs to go away.
