N.C. Tech kicks off season tonight in Concord

North Carolina Tech, Charlotte's post high school graduate program, kicks off its third season tonight under coach Tim Newman.

Tech is 27-0 in two seasons and plays Prince Avenue Prep (S.C.) tonight at 7 p.m. at Concord's Webb Field. Prince Avenue was 14-0 last season.

Tech features several highly ranked players from the high school class of 2008, and tries to get its players eligible for college in January.

You guys really need to look deeper at this program. This is the third time you have hyped it. Most of these kids are going to JUCO after they pay for a year of what? They could go straight to JUCO out of HS. Please do your homework....

This is not a program its a scam to take parents money and get these young men down there and then dont do what they say they are going to do, Newman talks about how he's going to take these guys to church and he will tell you everything you hear about his program is alie, but I'm telling you if you send you son here be prepared to have to pay for more than just apartment and food , you have to pay lights and your son go to this school where he might get to sit in a class for 2 hours but in the end you can send your son to a D3 school and be better off in the long run.

North Carolina Tech Prep Christian Academy is one of the worst places I have ever been involved in. COACH NEWMAN DOES NOT DO ANY THING HE SAYS HE IS GOING TO DO FOR YOU. Ask them how many football players they have gotten into a college for this years team. We came to get either a SAT/ACT score or to get a class credit we needed, he could not provide that for us. We had to pay him money just to play football for him, and pay Evelyn Mack Academy to take classes. Parents when you son go there tell them they will have to find a ride to the practice field, you have to share an apartment with five other people, (6 people in an apartment) you pay rent, lights and buy your own food (or pay $350.00 more a month to eat at this lady’s restaurant). When it is time to travel to an away game we where all crammed into one bus. Make sure you pay Evelyn Mack Academy for school and believe me that is where you need to go to school. Not NEWMAN’S SCHOOL! ALL NEWMAN DOES IS SAY FALSE PRAYERS (HE DOES NOT MEAN ANY OF IT) this man tells more lies than what some of us told him. We go away to a game he feeds us fast food, and he rides in a van. The apartments we stayed in are in a bad area, someone apartment was always broken into. And just look at North Carolina Tech wed site, how much does he have about this years team, for this year players. If you think you are going to get film to send off to a college YOU ARE WORNG, THE FILM EITHER DO NOT WORK OR YOU DO NOT WHO ONE PLAYER FROM ANOTHER. I had to call another college coach to get help with a problem, this man doES not tell you where he lives, he does not give out his phone number. HE TOLD US DO COLLEGE COACHES GIVE OUT THEIR INFORMATION. NEWMAN THIS WAS NOT COLLEGE. ALL HE WANTS TO DO IS WIN FOOTBALL GAMES, THAT’S WHY WE ALL PLANNED NOT TO WIN THE GAME AGAINST FORK UNION.
DO NOT GO THERE GO TO FORK UNION MILITARY SCHOOL.

North Carolina Tech Prep is not a SCHOOL, OR A COLLEGE! This Coach is running a program for PURE PROFIT. He pays himself well and pays his coaches nothing. The only time the players see him is during practice. Most of players when they go there are already being looked at by colleges and the student is in need of either a core grade or SAT/ACT score. They go there to get what they need. Now Newman has started a school and he started this school months after the 2008 boys got there. I am going to say this if you want your son to get what is needed to move on enroll your child into Evelyn Mack Academy, the school has a track record, her school grades will go to the NCAA see if North Carolina Tech is listed on the NCAA School list. When you pay your money to North Carolina Tech you are paying for your son to play football only. They had college day or what Newman called a drill day for college coaches only four or five college coaches came out. How to get this program to either do right or go out of business is to TELL YOUR CHILDS HIGH SCHOOL COACH SO HE WILL NOT RECOMMEND ANY OTHER CHILD TO ATTEND THIS PROGRAM. My son atteded this season and I was so upset to have to leave him there. The apartment complex is not safe at ALL!!. And I do not see how the fire marshall allowed that many children into one apartment. Any thing happens to your child you need to have one of the coaches number to call, Newman will never be the person you will be able to reach at no time. There is more I can say that is not good about Newman but it will not change the fact that he is still in business. What we are doing is my son got the names of the high schools some of his friends he made there and we are telling the coaches not to inform any of their player to go there. They should go to Fork Union or Providence Prep. Your child will turn out a lot safer and he will have what is needed to move on.

I just took a look at the North Carolina Tech Prep web site and this Coach Newman is a man that does not know how to speak the truth. This is what he had to say about his college day on the site.
NEWMAN..." 2008 College Day was a big success this year. There was 14 schools at college day this year. This was a good turn out due most college teams still in season and in the playoffs. There was a lot of buzz on our players at College Day".

I read what some parents had to say about this program and I am always out at their field and he lied, there was not 14 colleges out there. Now I am starting to take to heart what some of the parents have to say on this blog. He just out right told a lie. And where is the update of the 2008signees Newman?

This is what he has on his site and they did not play Clemson...DID NOT, I WANTED TO GO AND ONE OF THE PLAYERS TOLD ME THAT CLEMSON FORFITED THE GAME!! I did not know that this man told this kind of lies and I talk to him almost every day of practice. Someone called me up and told me to read this blog. I hope he reads it.

I have some questions about NC Tech. I have been looking into working on Coach Newman's staff and have had some concerns about if it would be the right move or not. I want to use this as a step into college coaching and it seems to me that I would be able to do that from NC Tech. But, what I have read here is giving me an uneasy feeling. Anyone have some ideas or some answers for me?

Everything you hear or read about Tim Newman and NC Tech is 100% true.Newman is the biggest liar and scam artist their is he took money from the program and some how ended up with a brand new BMW during the season. No colleges come, guys are only getting scholarships to D2 and NAIA schools and don't believe cause players are not qualified the players that are qualified are the ones getting the D2 and NAIA scholarships and If you see a guy signing with a big school its because he already had that before even playing for NC tech. Like Ed Tinker they have it all over the website Ed Tinker signs to Pittsburgh. Tinker had a scholarship from Pittsburgh since he was in the 10th Grade.NC Tech is not even a schools player get sent to a school. And the staff at NC Tech does a horrible job of evaluating players academics. They takes kids who they know can't qualify do to the fact that the NCAA will only approve one course from a post graduate program. Also player are keep a an apartment complex filled with crime. Many players had doors kicked down and personal items stolen, two shooting occurred in or near the complex in the last season...NC Tech is just horrible and its a big joke.

I am so glad I found this site. My grandson is looking into applying for this program, but from what I have read so far....the whole thing sounds like a mess. Is there anything good about the program at all. Please let some of us know before pursuing any further.

Unfortunately there is nothing good about this program. Matter of fact they are ruining it for good programs that are out there. We just attended the Southern Wildcats family day last weekend and it was refreshing to see that program and what it can do for these kids. check out www.southerntechwildcats.com if you want to see a good hard working program.

have you ever heard of Antonio Brown?????? he was produced by NC Tech, he was MAC first team, and is an NFL prospect, NC Tech has sent many players to the next level. Get your facts right

Anonymous said...

Antonio Brown WAS elligible before going to NC TECH. Ask Newman about Antonio Brown when he was down in Miami at FAU. What players have become ELLIGIBLE after coming to NC TECH and then went on to a good program. Four years over 400 players and there are 2 legitimate successes. YOU DO THE NUMBERS!

NC Tech is a good program for kids that have grade problems. The guys that are bad mouthing the program are the guys that Newman fired. I sent my WR to NC Tech, and it look like he's going to attend Colorado or the 3 or 4 other D1AA schools he has offers from. It takes any business 3 or 4 years to develop. Now NC Tech has a track record more and more schools will be attracted to there players. Parents all these new prep schools Southern Tech, etc will take 3 or 4years to develop and will not be a good situation for your kids due to colleges wanting to see if they are legit or not. Hargrave, Fork Union, Milford weren't build over night what make you think NC Tech, Southern Tech, etc can be. Also, sending kids to D1 isn't the only way you gain success. Success is getting student athletes a free eucation so they can be something in life no matter if it's on the D1, D1AA, D2, or NAIA level. Miami, FL
