Your primer on Bruce Hardin

Providence Day football fans, here’s all you need to know about your new coach.

Bruce Hardin has won at every high school he’s coached.

Won large.

The 27-year veteran comes from Marvin Ridge, a first-year team minus any seniors, in which he squeezed a 4-8 record and state playoff berth. That’s coaching.

He won at Kannapolis Brown, West Charlotte, Providence and Harding. He’s seen just about every situation a coach can see, and thrived.

Hardin, who also had college stints at the Citadel and Army, knows X’s and O’s. He also knows people.

He is tough, fair and compassionate.

Now, he joins the Charlotte Independent School Athletic Association, which for the past decade or so has been dominated by Charlotte Latin and Charlotte Country Day.

The league’s profile just jumped a few levels.
