Cheerleaders suspended for flashing during football game

Some cheerleaders at a high school in Ripon, Calif, were suspended for two days for flashing the crowd during a football game Friday.

The cheerleaders decided to make up a cute dance for the last game of the year. They danced to Britney Spears' "Baby One More Time" and bent over and pulled up their skirts. Underneath, the girls had spelled out INDIANS on the bottom of white bloomer underpants they were all wearing.

School officials didn't like it and suspended the girls two days.

Was that too much or about right? What do you think?

Makes me think school and system officials are all pedophiles for that overreaction.

If a kid stood up in class and dropped his pants, you'd expect a suspension, right?

So what if that kid dropped his pants in front of the entire school community and a large group of visitors? Double-secret probation, right?

So what if it was 10 kids who officially represent the school making an organized effort to do it? I'd say these girls are lucky to be suspended for only two days.

umm Is it just me or can you not see a cheerleader's undergarments regardless of whether something is printed on the back??? Hello??!! Talk about a Puritan witch hunt.....jeez.

In total, short suspension sounds about right to me. What the girls did was not WAY over the top, but on the vid, the girls note that routines are supposed to be approved beforehand. They skipped this because they likely knew it wouldn't be approved. Also, they were told immediately after doing the routine to quit cheering for the rest of the night by a school offical. They disobeyed this order. So the punishment is more for disobeying rules and direct orders than for just what they did. Hopefully, for the girls and the school, this can be the end of it. But with the widespread publicity acts like this receive thru You Tube and media attention (note this occurred in CA, and we are discussing it in NC), it likely won't be the end.

In other news, several guns were brought to school today. Offenders will be back in class tomorrow.

"Puritan whitch hunt"? Perhaps there is a pedophile or two on the school board. They certainly let these girls off very light. Girls too big for their pants who chose to violate school rules.
I'd say that there are a few that seem to care less about this issue. Especially the pedophiles and their enablers.

People have a problem with thugs letting their pants sag so low you can see their butt crack through their underwear, but no problem with teenage girls bending over so you can see their panties.

"Puritan witch hunt" or sexually-charged double standard?

I agree with a previous comment about cheerleader underpants are often seen. Just bouncing around on the sidelines can cause the skirt to lift. It is not like these are regular underpants they wear, but ones specially designed for this event. If this is a problem, better get rid of the can can girls flashing everyone at Tweetsie. It is supposed to be a family amusement park.

If this is punishment for failing to cease cheering after being told to do so then the school is within their right.

Mooning someone is a sign of disrespect. Stupid teenagers do it to police officers. You do it to people you want to anger. So, when cheerleaders moon the fans, they showed disrespect to them. They deserved the punishment.

They're wearing shorts... They showed what they normally wear at school... Lame.

Funny, Scotland's marching band did the same thing during their show a few years ago. (they wear kilts) The gimmick was met with laughter and applause every time. Funny there is a double standard

The big-picture problem is the fact that we have teenage girls doing stripper-esque dances with panties visible in front of huge crowds.

Cheerleaders are supposed to lead cheers, not provide sexually-suggestive entertainment. Allowing them to show their underwear at all is establishing a very poor standard of behavior for their adult life.

I read over the above comments and I'll tell you honestly there are a few I have to disagree with. But the person who said that if it was for disobeying the order it was within the school's right, I agree. If so, it is.

Other than that, it appears to me that the school is making a mountain out of a mohill.

That's JMO. Just putting my 2 cents worth. I came across this blog article surfing the net and felt like commenting on it.

The kids should only be given parental advices for flashing themselves but not a suspension! Hey let's be reasonable here. Girls really when you are flashing your asses in front of audience you are encouraging such explicit sexual content....It should be the dumb parents to ground those b--ches not the school....

Ok parents you gonna fight to keep their spirits going...that isn't a spirit....careful what you wish parents you may hear someone else or a stranger say what an ass your daughter has!
